Hello!

Normally, I post about religious art, but hey! It’s Fat Tuesday! So, today, I will indulge with a quick personal post about my newest addition to the family (including a picture!), a little about the new book that I just released (and by that, I mean that I want to blabber about how awesome my husband is), and about my plans for Lent (yes, you’ll see me around).

Baby!

Yes! Baby #3 has come!

I’m not quite sure exactly what to say about this… honestly, I’m still wrapping my mind about the wonder of having a new baby to hold. It is such a blessing that is hard to even articulate.

This being my third kid, you would think that the magic of having that newborn baby to hold would diminish somewhat. After all, I have gone through this two times before. Plus, the last part of the pregnancy was incredibly difficult. Even I worried that perhaps I would have a hard time bonding with this new soul, with all the complications and pain that had happened in the latter part of pregnancy, along with the longer recovery time that a c-section would necessitate.

But no. When I first saw her, there was only love.

New Book!

I made another book! It pairs the prayers of the Rosary with religious art pertaining to the Sorrowful Mysteries… just in time for Lent! I talk a little bit about the book and the sheer importance of the Sorrowful Mysteries in my life in this blog entry and you can peek at the book (and buy it, if you want!) over here on its official book page.

However! I wanted to use this space to admit that there was a time — even as early as last month — that I wasn’t sure if I could complete the book in time for Lent, like I had hoped. After all! The last trimester of pregnancy was not really fun for me this time around. There were some days that I would be at the hospital for pretty much the whole day doing tests to make sure that the baby and I were okay and, by the time that I finally came home, I was exhausted.

So, I wanted to give a public shout out to my husband. Were it not for him, I absolutely could not finish the book by now.

This might sound like an exaggeration or me being a little bit too silly or sentimental, but I assure you that it is completely true. From cheerleading to looking over my edits (which were very helpful for the publishing side!) all the way to making dinner and doing laundry (which gave me a break to sit back with my feet up and get a rest from pregnancy… and maybe work more on my book), he made sure that I never was lacking in support.

What can I say? Some superheroes don’t wear capes. This one wears his wedding ring!

Glorious Mysteries?

I’ve been asked by several people whether the Glorious Mysteries will be done in time for Easter. And… the answer to that question is yes. Probably.

This probably sounds a bit too optimistic, but I assure you that it’s nearly done now. What can I say? Because the last couple of weeks of pregnancy were so difficult and involved me sitting down a lot, I was able to use that time to work on that book. And, since I am still recovering from a c-section and still not able to really move around that easily, I am working on the last minute proofs of that book now… all the while cuddling with my newborn.

So, if you’re wondering why there haven’t been a lot of posts lately… that’s why!

Plans for Lent

This Lent is honestly a bit of a whirlwind. After all, not only is there a new baby, but… it’s Lent!

I want to do everything for Lent, of course, like the over-achiever that I admittedly am, but I am also very much aware that I am not really in a good position to do everything, especially since . So… I am going to play things a little easier than I normally would and just give up desserts and try again to have a family Rosary… which is not as easy as it sounds when you have three children that are ages three and under!

One thing that I am not giving up is social media or blogging. Au contraire! Why? Because, quite frankly, looking at sacred artwork helps keep my mind on God when I would otherwise want to zone out and journaling about the artwork helps keep my mind focused on the gospel and its message.

So!

I am hoping to write at least three blog entries a week for Lent! And I’ll be featuring the artwork that I’ve featured in my book about the Sorrowful Mysteries — so lots of stunning art that delves into the Passion of our Lord.
