I Won a Rosary!

…and you better believe that I’m going to talk about it! (Besides, beautiful handmade rosaries are totally a form of art… right?!)

The folks at Catholic Milestones made this one! Isn’t it pretty? They were hosting a giveaway at their Facebook page (which you should totally join if you’re Facebook inclined) and I entered into the giveaway… and I won!

The photo sadly does not do it justice! There are three different colored beads — bronze, silver, and gold — and the medallion has images of the Virgin Mary on it.

The rosary I won, complete with a cool looking bag, a business card, and a handwritten “Congratulations!”

It also happens to be a paracord rosary, which feels super durable in your hands. The beads, the crucifix and medallion are big, and the knots that you see are quite big! I didn’t realize how big it was until it arrived, honestly. But, that makes me feel better… my kids are little and the bigger and more durable things are, the better it is!

My daughter was slightly disappointed that it wasn’t candy canes, but once she realized how awesome it was, she quickly grabbed it! Also… bad lighting is bad, but what do you expect when you live in the Pacific Northwest and the world is gray outside?

Speaking of kids, Catholic Milestones actually started this business because of their kids! This is from their About Page:

We are a small family business but we are not a small family.  As one by one our children made their First Holy Communion we quickly learned that traditional rosaries were not up to the task of regular use.

We were looking for Rosaries that our family would be inspired to use,  that would not get tangled in pockets, bags, or backpacks, rosaries that would last.

The very fact that this family business started because of their desire to share the Rosary with their kids made me smile. After all, I made a book about the Rosary to be able to share it with my kids! And, what can I say? It is so beautiful and fitting when parents share the Rosary with their children, just as our Blessed Mother shared the Rosary with us.

Anyway, a huge thank you to Catholic Milestones! I’ve made rosaries for friends and family before, and it takes me at least nine hours of just pure twisting metal and threading beads before I’m able to complete it. What can I say? It’s an act of love making a rosary! So I really appreciate the gift. God bless you and your ministry, and may you spread the devotion of the Rosary further!

And, if you’re looking for a sturdy rosary that is good for children, I recommend this company! They do good work.

It’s beautiful! I’d never heard of using paracord to make a rosary, but I guess it works! It looks huge compared to your kiddo though, haha! Congrats on winning it!
